The Otuihau working group is a sub group that reports to the wider Whangarei Catchment Group. The working group is made-up of representatives from the Northland District Health Board, Northland Regional Council, Whangarei District Council, Pehiāweri Marae, Whitebait Connection and Tiki Pride.
The Whangārei Harbour catchment group also recommended to the Northland Regional Council to introduce new rules to exclude livestock upstream from swimming sites in the Hātea River. We’re hoping landowners will take advantage of the funding to get their waterways fenced while the funding is available: www.nrc.govt.nz/environmentfund
